1039 House
Completed in 2025, this residence occupies a heavily wooded lot—one of the highest points in metro Atlanta—where the land drops nearly ninety feet from front to back. Rather than asserting itself over the terrain, the house is carefully embedded within it, working with the slope and allowing the natural topography to shape both form and experience.
The central design challenge was not one of elevation, but of restraint: how to inhabit a dramatic site without overpowering it. Through a calibrated response to grade, massing, and scale, the home settles quietly into the hillside, maintaining a respectful dialogue with its landscape and neighboring structures.
